The return of the Grapes of Wrath

“Watch the Film if you Dare?”

If you do not believe this post, ask any “Okie” about their families past history?

Grapes of Wrath

This is a Fictional film based on real life about the ancestors of Oklahoma!

The Grapes of Wrath is an American realist novel written by John Steinbeck and published in 1939.

I did a book report on this in high school, watched the film a few days ago.

Set during the Great Depression, the novel focuses on the Joads,

a poor family of tenant farmers driven from their Oklahoma home by drought,

economic hardship,

agricultural industry changes

bank foreclosures

forcing tenant farmers out of work.

Due to their nearly hopeless situation, and in part because they are trapped in

the Dust Bowl.

The Joads set out for California.

Along with thousands of other “Okies”, they seek jobs, land, dignity, and a future.

Mind you that this film was based on a time when the very rich ruled

everyone else suffered as slave laborers!

Why is this so important today?

If we place any of the republicans now running for the presidency into office, all three branches of the federal government will be run by the “Koch brothers” and “Every Super-Pack!”

Especially the one’s able to return from the picking fields of California?
